Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:    

Under the general supervision of the Program Supervisor, is responsible for the proper guidance and direction of the weight room and multi-training areas.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develops an awareness of safe and proper usage of the weight room and multi-training areas.
  2. Provides basic instruction on use of equipment, training principles and safety.
  3. Ensures that rules and regulations pertaining to user safety are adhered to by participants.
  4. Conducts weight room and multi-training room orientations.
  5. Reports on equipment maintenance and keeps appropriate records or statistics such as daily report forms.
  6. Communicates participant requests, suggestions, and complaints to supervisor.
  7. Performs daily schedule as outlined.
  8. Attends general staff meetings and training sessions.
  9. Patrols multi-training areas, track, weight room, courts and the fitness program room and provides general supervision.
  10. Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:    

 

Education/Experience:

  • Must possess an academic and practical knowledge of weight training
  • Preferred candidate will have gone through a recognized course on weight training

 CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Must undergo a successful police records check, Type 1
  • Must obtain 1st Aid and 2 Person CPR within three months of employment
  • Must be competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and be capable issuing clearly understandable written and oral instructions
  • Must obtain WHMIS and customer service training

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Part-time (not to exceed 24 hours per week)
  • Irregular hours (Monday to Sunday)
