Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:  Under the general supervision of the Programs Manager Jasper Support Services, assists in carrying out duties to facilitate the effective operation of the Meals on Wheels Program.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Receives and processes client referrals and responds to client inquiries.
  2. Identifies new meal delivery routes and provides meal supplier with accurate diet reports.
  3. Participates in the scheduling of volunteers and assumes the duties of volunteers when required.
  4. Processes client billings and meal payments and prepares weekly bank deposit.
  5. Maintains program statistics and records.
  6. Performs back-up duties for Program personnel during absences.
  7. Assists with planning and preparing for special events, displays, and presentations.
  8. Assists in the labeling and packing of outgoing meals.
  9. Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:     

   

Education/Experience:

  • Certificate/diploma in office administration or a related discipline
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

 

Skills/Abilities:

  • Must have a genuine interest and understanding of the needs of the elderly
  • Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain good working relations with superiors, co-workers, clients, and the general public
  • Self-starter with proven organizational and analytical skills
  • Must be able to work effectively as a member of a team and independently
  • Independent judgment when dealing with confidential or sensitive issues
  • Valid Ontario Class ‘G’ driver’s licence
  • Proficient in the use of computers and current related word processing and spreadsheet software
  • Competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health and Safety Act

 

Assets:

  • Knowledge of nutrition would be an asset

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Will be required to travel to various locations throughout the city when requested and provide own transportation
  • Must be available to work on statutory holidays
  • Must work a flexible schedule as required
  • Must have successfully undergone a "two step" tuberculosis skin test within the 12 months prior to employment
  • Must undergo a successful police records check Type II
