Job Description

Position Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Supervisor – Taxation and Revenue Accounting or the Supervisor – Water Billing and Revenue Accounting, responds to customer inquiries and performs billing functions and general clerical duties.


Major Responsibilities:

  1. Responds to customer inquiries on the phone and in person; responds to customer concerns regarding account balances, and performs financial adjustments as required.
  2. Maintains revenue billing systems for address and ownership changes, water readings, issuing refunds, and work orders.
  3. Reviews and adjusts water readings on exception reports.
  4. Performs cash balancing, processing, and reconciling.
  5. Issues tax and water certificates.
  6. Maintains electronic payment programs for preauthorized, mortgage, and e-post applications within the revenue billing systems.
  7. Prepares journal entries and reconciles respective accounts.
  8. Liaises with City departments and outside bodies as required.
  9. Perform general office and other related duties as required.





  • Secondary school graduation; and
  • Post-secondary courses in accounting, or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience


Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated skill in communication, both written and oral is essential
  • Must be able to converse with the public in a courteous and tactful manner
  • Must be at a basic skill level in word processing and an intermediate skill level in spreadsheet software and must possess basic on-line data entry skills
