Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:       Under the general supervision of the Program & Marketing Coordinator, provides technology instruction lessons to program participants.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Designs and teaches various computer or technology based courses for senior adults, and creates course outlines, writes instructions and reviews handouts for each of the different courses.
  2. Prepares the training room and computers (if required) for use before each class.
  3. Returns any equipment used to its proper location.
  4. Supervises the use of computer equipment during class hours.
  5. Notifies supervisor and contacts program participants that have missed two consecutive classes.
  6. Attends staff training sessions throughout the year.
  7. Distributes information/evaluation forms to participants as requested.
  8. Advises supervisor of any program needs or areas of concern.
  9. Maintains awareness of emergency procedures of the facility.
  10. Maintains current knowledge in related software, programs and technology devices.
  11. Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education/Experience:

  • Formalized accreditation from a certified computer or technology program or institution; and
  • Minimum two years’ experience teaching adults in a group setting.

 

Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to plan, develop, and deliver presentations to a variety of audiences using oral, written, and electronic communicationMust be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and presentation software and the use of the Internet and e-mail
  • Must be competent within the meaning to the Occupational Health & Safety Act.

 

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:   

  • Must undergo a successful police records check, Type II;
  • Must possess valid standard first aid and 2 Person CPR certifications;
