POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Program Supervisor and the technical direction and guidance of the Head Lifeguard, safeguards the facility to ensure the public have a safe and enjoyable aquatic experience.
Safeguards the facility; prevents potential accidents and performs rescues in accordance with emergency procedures.
Performs assignments, when not on lifeguarding shift, such as cleaning the pool site, pool tests, batherload statistics and assisting patrons.
Ensures proper equipment is set up before each lifeguarding shift.
Participates in training and staff meetings as required.
Completes report forms related to timesheets, accidents, unusual events, thefts, complaints and water chemistry.
Participates in the organization and implementation of special events such as swim meets and fun days.
Repairs equipment, or take appropriate action in the meantime, and advises supervisor of any equipment maintenance or replacement needed.
Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Must maintain all awards current from date of application until end of employment period
Must attend and complete within three months of employment, customer service training and WHMIS training
Must undergo a successful police records check, Type 2
Will be required to work irregular hours and weekends
