    Job Description


    Under the general supervision of the Clinical Manager and the direction of the registered nurse on duty, participates in the provision of care for the residents.



    1. Provides basic nursing care based on each resident’s developed care plan and within the framework of an established nursing program
    2. Encourages and supports resident participation in activities of daily living
    3. Documentation on charts and flow sheets
    4. Reports changes in residents’ physical and mental condition to the Registered Nurse and documents as per policy





    • Must be a secondary school graduate and have completed at a minimum, the first year of the registered practical nursing or registered nursing program at college or university and continue to be enrolled in either of these programs

    Skills & Abilities:

    • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
    • Must be highly motivated and able to work well in a team environment.
    • Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing.
    • Superior customer service skills, with the ability to deal with the public and staff in a courteous and tactful manner.
    • A genuine interest and understanding of the needs of the elderly

    Physical Demands:

    This position requires constant standing/walking; frequent squatting/crouching; unilateral lifting 1-25 lbs. frequently, bilateral lifting 50+ lbs. frequently, 15-75 lbs. occasionally; push/pull 5-100 lbs. frequently. Occasional = up to 33% of working day; Frequent = 34-66% of working day; Constant = 67-100% of working day.


    Conditions of Employment:

    • Must undergo a successful Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
    • Must have successfully undergone a “two step” tuberculosis skin test with the last 12 months prior to employment
