    Job Description

    Position Summary:

    Under the direction of the Chief Chemist, is responsible for assisting with tasks and duties at the Water Pollution Control Plant, including, but not limited to, the following:

     

    Major Responsibilities:

    1. Assists laboratory personnel with day-to-day routines in WPCP
    2. Keeps lab tidy and assists with glass washing, data entry, and sampling at the plant
    3. Assists Environmental Inspector with sampling and field work
    4. Assists Process Engineer at WPCP in special projects or as assigned
    5. Assists Chief Chemist in duties as assigned

     

    Qualifications:

     

    Education/Experience:

    • Secondary school graduation & enrolled in a chemistry or environmental engineering program at a college or university

    Skills & Abilities:

    • Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in English
    • Must be highly motivated and work well in a team environment
    • Proficient in the use of computers and current related software (Word, Excel)
    • Must possess and maintain a valid Class “G” Ontario Drivers Licence, or equivalent
    • Must meet the definition of a competent driver as defined by the Corporation

    Conditions of Employment:

    • Must be willing to work in an industrial plant and laboratory setting. Some field work may also be required
    • Must remain a competent driver as defined by the Corporation
    • May be required to provide a successful driver’s abstract
