The Opportunity

As an Industrial Millwright with the Corporation, you will work at our state of the art Bare Point Water Treatment Plant, which is located on the shores of Lake Superior and supplies potable water to the City of Thunder Bay. Our upgraded treatment plant contains state of the art ultra-filtration membrane technology, and we are proud to be the first ZeeWeed 1000 Version 3 plant of its kind in the world!

Our Industrial Millwrights are responsible for the repair and maintenance work associated with the equipment, buildings and grounds of Water Treatment and Water Distribution Subsystems. This role is under the general supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor.

 

The role reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and has the following accountabilities:

  • Performs maintenance as assigned, or as outlined by the Preventative Maintenance System.  Operates valves, pumps, generators, controls and other equipment as necessary.
  • Maintains and inputs information into the Preventative Maintenance System by entering work performed, parts used, and time required to perform work on work orders.
  • Monitors assigned equipment, identifies and reports equipment wear, abnormalities, breakdowns, and repairs required.
  • Repairs or replaces equipment or parts that break down or show wear or malfunction. Recommends improvements for plant equipment and participates in installations.
  • Performs general building and grounds repairs as required.
  • Obtains necessary parts, supplies, and tools, from inventory, and is accountable for their return, or assignment to Work Orders. Recommends spare parts for inventory.
  • Performs and assists with confined space entries using self-contained breathing apparatus as required.
  • Performs the duties of an Operator, Relief Operator or Lead of Maintenance when required.
  • Obtains Ontario Drinking Water Treatment & Distribution Operator License

Ideal Candidate

  • Journeyman Certification as a millwright
  • Must have proven practical experience in the operation and maintenance of industrial pumps, motors up to 800 HP, and controls, and be proficient in welding, soldering, pipefitting and tool maintenance.
  • Must be able to read and interpret engineering, construction and mechanical drawings.
  • Must be capable of issuing and accurately comprehending written/oral information and instructions.
