Plant Electrician - WTP

The Opportunity

As a Plant Electrician with the Corporation, you will work at our state of the art Bare Point Water Treatment Plant, which is located on the shores of Lake Superior and supplies potable water to the City of Thunder Bay. Our upgraded treatment plant contains state of the art ultra-filtration membrane technology, and we are proud to be the first ZeeWeed 1000 Version 3 plant of its kind in the world!

Our Plant Electricians maintain and install electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment used in the operation of water treatment and water distribution subsystems.

The role reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and has the following accountabilities:

• Plans, installs, repairs, maintains, connects, tests electrical fixtures, apparatus, control equipment and wiring for systems of alarm, communication, light, heat, and power in buildings or other structures.
• Purchases equipment, material and parts required and recommends spare parts for inventory.
• Obtains proper electrical permits for any retrofits, repairs or new construction.
• Obtains Ontario Drinking Water Treatment & Distribution Operator License
• Maintains and upgrades plant schematics, manuals, operating procedures and narratives.
• Installs, programs, and maintains Programmable Logic Controllers and Graphics Packages.
• Performs the duties of an Operator, Relief Operator or Lead of Electrical when required.
• Participates in the Plant’s facility maintenance system and recommends changes or modifications to such systems.

Ideal Candidate

• Journeyman Electrician together with an Electronics Endorsement
• Fire Alarm Endorsement would be desirable
• Must have proven experience with Programmable Logic Controllers, SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) systems and be knowledgeable in the use of computer drafting software
