Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:      Under the general supervision of the Program Supervisor Adult Fitness, Wellness & Inclusion Services, is responsible for the proper guidance and direction of the weight room and multi-training areas.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develops an awareness of safe and proper usage of the weight room and multi-training areas.
  2. Provides basic instruction on use of equipment, training principles and safety.
  3. Ensures that rules and regulations pertaining to user safety and cleanliness are adhered to by patrons.
  4. Conducts weight room and multi-training room orientations and facility tours.
  5. Reports on equipment maintenance, inventory and keeps appropriate records of statistics.
  6. Communicates participant requests, suggestions, and complaints to Supervisor.
  7. Performs daily schedule as outlined.
  8. Attends general staff meetings and training sessions.
  9. Patrols multi-training areas, track, weight room, courts and the fitness program room and provides general supervision.
  10. Performs other related duties as may be assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education/Experience:

  • Must possess an academic and practical knowledge of weight training
  • Preferred candidate will have gone through a recognized course on weight training

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Must undergo a successful Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC)
  • Must obtain Standard First Aid CPR-C within three months of employment
  • Must be competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health & Safety Act
  • Must obtain WHMIS training

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Part-time (not to exceed 24 hours per week)
  • Irregular hours (Monday to Sunday)
