Applications Developer/Analyst - Business & Enterprise Applications Solutions

 

The Opportunity

The Applications Developer/Analyst is responsible for developing and providing effective corporate & departmental business & enterprise applications and web solutions. They also provide functional guidance to both division and corporate or departmental clients as it relates to business & enterprise applications, web solutions and the resolution of technical problems.

 

The role reports to the Manager – Business & Enterprise Applications and has the following accountabilities:

  • Provides effective Corporate and departmental software business & enterprise applications and web solutions, utilizing the applicable phases of the Systems Development Life Cycle, to meet client business needs, legislative requirements, or software release upgrades.
  • Leads or participates in researching, planning, determining resource allocation, evaluating software solutions, providing recommendations, determining client and technology requirements, and developing program/system specifications and cost-effective solutions as it relates to project management-related activities.
  • Leads or participates in the preparation of reports, business cases, surveys, and studies; provides recommendations relating to the implementation of new and existing application solutions.
  • Identifies, develops, and ensures compliance with technical standards and guidelines; participates in the development of procedures as it relates to application processes and IT standards; maintains records in accordance with policies.
  • Collaborates with the business application owner to establish and review user security access for the application; ensures application security is maintained.

Ideal Candidate

  • Degree in computer science, software engineering, or information systems together with three years’ recent experience working with business application and web solutions, advanced programming techniques, relational database technology, and project management; or
  • Diploma relating to software development together with five years’ recent experience working with business application and web solutions, advanced programming techniques, relational database technology, and project management; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of network hardware, protocols, and standards
  • Experience in business analysis and systems design/development projects
  • Superior ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with clients, co-workers, and business partners
  • Experience developing applications/reports and adhoc queries using the latest releases in the following environments: VB (Visual Studio, specifically asp.net), HTML, Javascript, CSS, Crystal Reports, Microsoft Office, SQL Server Reporting Services
  • Experience in developing queries and stored procedures using Oracle SQL, PLSQL and/or Microsoft SQL Server
  • Experience in Web software such as Webtrends and GIS mapping interfaces for presentation on the web
